Ideology: Résumé & Future Perspectives

This round-table marks the conclusion of the 2018 Critical Theory Summer School on Ideology. It attempts to summarize some strands of the discussions pursued throughout the week and asks specifically about what new directions and impulses should guide ideology critique. Do we need a more comprehensive framework for unifying various analyses, for instance within a theory of society or an overarching understanding of domination? Or is ideology critique still not intersectional enough? Should we even aim for covering all different axes of oppression with this concept, or should it be narrowed down to more specific instances of self-undermining normative practice? Short inputs by all instructors present will initiate the discussion.
